We combine study, travel, research and internships to prepare you for anything.

In their latest yearly survey, the National Association of Colleges and Employers found that problem-solving skills top the list of what businesses look for when hiring.

The second and third-most valued skills? Analytics and the ability to work as part of a team.

Which makes a liberal arts college like Eckerd a solid choice. Inside the classroom and within our local community, you’ll work in small groups to gather and analyze information, then craft a plan to solve a problem or meet a need.

By the time you graduate, you’ll be ready for anything.

Liberate yourself with liberal arts

Ever since Harvard opened its doors in 1636, liberal arts colleges like Eckerd have insisted that the best preparation for an uncertain future is a broad, “liberal” education.

That’s why every student at Eckerd takes four years of classes across a wide variety of fields—art, literature, the natural and social sciences—regardless of their major. Often called General Education, these courses provide the skills you’ll need to thrive over the long term: critical thought, the ability to make complex decisions and a commitment to lifelong learning.

You’ll be ready for anything life throws at you.

Many of our students are high achievers who thrive on constant challenge. They’re the ones who did internships in high school, lettered in sports and captained the debate team, and earned college credit before high school graduation. If this sounds like you, check out these ways to push yourself.
