Production space and gear

Limitless creative exploration

Film studies production classes employ the resources of the Nielsen Center for the Visual Arts, a new interdisciplinary arts building featuring a film production studio and a computer laboratory equipped for video, sound and graphic design as well as digital photography and 3D printing.

Shared with the Visual Arts and Interdisciplinary Arts programs, the building also includes a film photography darkroom, ceramics, printmaking and drawing studios, and several gallery spaces.

Equity is one of our core values

There are no lab fees for film studies courses and all film studies majors and minors have access to state-of-the-art digital cinema equipment, a production studio, and a computer lab.

Production studio

Our Production Studio provides space for demonstrations, workshops, and individual projects. Make this space your own to conduct interviews, stage narrative scenes, or use green screen in a professional setting.

Video Computer Lab

All film studies majors and minors have access to the Nielsen Center for Visual Art’s Video Computer Lab.  Furnished with up-to-date Apple computers, all editing stations run Adobe Premiere Creative Cloud software and other programs to fulfill the creative needs for advanced film and media production.

Film Studies Center

Film production equipment is ready for check-out, including Black Magic Cameras, hand-held gimbal stabilizers, and professional underwater camera gear. Need additional assistance? Trained film studies tutors are available to help students with equipment, production, and editing questions.
